Wedding catering is of huge importance to us. Food can make or break a day and we know it should always be one of the highlights. Well-fed guests are happy guests!

We will help you with menu choices, and budget options. We believe a careful budget should not be obvious in what you feed your guests – it will always be exemplary. We can plan for any special dietary requirements and make alternative suggestions – all without fuss. It’s just part of the excellent, seamless service we provide here at Arley House.

Our superb team can deal with both large and small scale catering down to perfection – it’s something we pride ourselves on. And it’s not just about the food – the décor and the service of the staff is vital too. We expect, and provide, nothing but the best.

Catering can make a huge difference to how much you enjoy your wedding day. From three-course meals to fish and chips, wedding catering comes in all different shapes and sizes. Whether you’re planning an indoor or an outdoor wedding, we have ideas to suit all tastes and budgets.

Wedding buffet

A wedding buffet can incorporate anything that tickles your tastebuds, without necessarily costing the earth. For instance, a Mediterranean buffet could include home-cooked meats, olives, sun dried tomatoes, cheeses, tapas and home-baked breads. Or choose an Asian feast, with Sushi, dim-sum, and seafood. You may like to sample home-made pies, or different styles of quiche and pasties, and these can all appeal to the eye as well as the palate. Bowl-sized servings of things like mini fish and chips or chilli could be another buffet option; or have food and cocktail stations where people can assemble their own meals from a variety of options. Just don’t forget to include some meat-free and other dietary options. And the sweet treats can be equally exciting: ice cream stations; an old-fashioned sweet shop, mini cheesecakes and meringues; luxury donuts and popcorn; chocolates and petits fours; a tower of desserts. You could even have a sweet buffet as an alternative to a wedding cake.

Three course meal

There’s nothing quite like a sumptuous three-course wedding banquet. The favourites are often roasts of all types, including carveries, with vegetarian options and seasonal vegetables. For winter weddings, why not choose a luxury version of a classic British dish, such as shepherd’s pie or pie and mash, followed by sticky toffee pudding (served with home-made custard made with real cream?) Or have a themed meal, such as American diner experience, a menu from your honeymoon destination, a choice of curries, or a barbecue (see below). A three-course meal ensures that everyone is served at the same time, and you can plan activities, such as speeches, between the courses to keep the momentum going.

When and where to have your catering

If you’re having an outdoor wedding, a picnic could be for you. At Arley House, you can choose a wedding picnic in our stunning walled gardens, by one of the pools, or on a lawn, to benefit from the beautiful views. This sort of catering is best served after midday to avoid the hottest part of the day in the summer. A wedding barbecue could be held on the terrace, and can be ideal for a relaxed summer wedding. You needn’t stick to sausages, with possibilities including home-made burgers, lamb koftas, and locally-sourced fish. Try serving these with an aromatic salad including edible flowers and herbs. And your guests might adore a flavour of the deep-south, such as hot-smoked pork served with crispy slaw.

If you have your wedding ceremony later in the day you won’t need to have more than one meal if that’s not affordable for you. Or perhaps have an opulent afternoon tea, rather than a meal, as your wedding breakfast, if you are on a tighter budget.
