The house, currently under renovation, and its estate extend from Arley to Upper Arley alongside the River Severn, and include over 2,000 acres of woodland and pasture, as well as the beautiful walled gardens which include a Magnolia Garden and an Italian Garden. Arley House and the estate are within easy access of most destinations in Worcestershire, the West Midlands and Staffordshire.

Wedding venues West Midlands

Many of the rooms in Arley House have views of the grounds which are set in the battlements of a 17th century castle. The main house has recently been refurbished for civil ceremonies, but the estate is licensed to conduct wedding ceremonies anywhere on the grounds, so you can choose an outdoor or garden ceremony. If you are looking for a more traditional ceremony, Arley House and Arboretum are also able to facilitate traditional church ceremonies and blessings at St Peter’s Church, Arley.

The events team also has experience of specialist weddings including Asian weddings and same-sex weddings, for between 10 and 1,000 guests. Their wedding organiser can help you find a wedding package to suit your taste and budget. You can choose to have your wedding ceremony in one of the beautiful walled gardens, in a pagoda, a greenhouse, or on the lawn. For your reception, you can host your guests in the house once renovated or in one of the marquees that accommodate up to 600 people.

Arley House and Arboretum

The historic Arley Arboretum was established by Earl Mountnorris in around 1800 and is now open to the public thanks to a charitable trust established by Roger Turner. Turner was a Midlands industrialist and philanthropist who took on the repairs and renovations of Arley village and the Arboretum in 1959. As well as restoring the arboretum and the Grade II listed Walled Gardens he modernised many of the properties and built 27 new houses, including Arley House. When Roger Turner died in 1999 he left the entire estate to his charitable trust. Today, the many exotic and rare plants on the estate are thriving, making this one of the oldest and best arboretum in the country.

There is always something to see at Arley House and Arboretum, from stunning spring flowers to the majesty of the autumn leaves. You can enjoy the summer elegance of the trees and fountain in the Italian gardens, the spring beauty of the Magnolia garden and the many rare and special trees. Children can enjoy year-round activities at the Arboretum, from a preschool forest club to children’s parties and summer holiday activities that include pond-dipping and dinosaur trails. The Arboretum also has several play areas and trails, and a maze.

As well as the gardens, you can enjoy a light lunch,  or a tea and cake at the tea room, and visit the nursery that sells plants raised by the estate’s gardeners. During your visit, you might like to take one of the circular walks around the picturesque village of Upper Arley, through ancient woodland and towards the River Severn. The Severn Valley Railway stop at Arley is only a five-minute walk from Arley Arboretum. Arley House and Arboretum has everything you need for a day out in the area with your family, which is why it is one of Worcestershire’s hidden gems.
